BUA went into the business of shipping with the purchase of the vessel MT Raniya in the year 2005. The vessel which was built in the year 1974 in Japan and is made up of a crew of Ship Master, a Chief Officer and 15 crew members.

Since it was bought, MT Raniya has been put into commercial use in the following way:

  1. Ship to ship (STS): Transportation of the following petroleum products
    • Automotive Gas Oil (AGO)
    • Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK)
    • Low Pour Fuel Oil (LPFO)

The Vessel operates charter services for these products. The charter services are either on a time or voyage charter basis.

The major routes plied by the vessel are:

  1. Off-shore Lagos to the various storage jetties.
  2. Along Nigeria's coast lines.
  3. Along the West African coast line.
